A newly finished home can feel pristine but slightly impersonal at first. You do not need a full redesign to make it feel like yours. Small, considered changes often make the biggest difference.
Artwork and personal objects
Hang pieces you already love, even if the arrangement is temporary. Books, photographs and collected objects soften new surfaces and tell a story about the people who live there.
Lighting and textiles
Add lamps at different heights, then layer cushions, throws and curtains. Soft materials warm acoustics as well as appearance, especially in open-plan rooms with hard finishes.
Plants and colour
A few plants bring life to empty corners. If you are cautious about painting, introduce colour through rugs, ceramics and bedding first, then commit to walls once you understand how light moves through the home.
Decorate gradually
Give yourself time. Live in the rooms before buying everything at once. The homes that feel most settled usually evolve over months, not a single weekend.
